Start Small: Walk In Water

It is never too late to initiate physical activity. Individuals who have maintained a sedentary lifestyle for many years may find the transition to regular movement particularly challenging. However, initiating activity at any level can produce meaningful health benefits.

Beginning with low-intensity activity allows the body to adapt gradually. Even modest increases in movement can lead to measurable improvements in physical function. For individuals with access to a swimming pool, walking in the shallow end provides an effective starting point. Water walking reduces joint loading while allowing safe, controlled movement.

Initially, participants should aim for three to five minutes of activity at least three times per week. This approach minimizes injury risk while supporting the development of strength, mobility, and endurance over time.
