Remember Your Health Is Your Responsibility – PART V
In G.I. Jane, Command Master Chief Urgayle tells his troops, “Pain is your friend.” He says it keeps you alert. It keeps you angry. It reminds you to finish the job and get home. And best of all, it proves you’re still alive.
Seen through that lens, pain sounds useful. Even necessary.
That lens only works in extreme situations. It works for soldiers who chose the mission. It works when pain has a purpose and an end.
Everyday life is different.
Pain does not motivate the average person. Instead it limits, steals their sleep and joy. It makes normal life feel impossible. Pain isn’t a drill instructor. It’s a barrier. However, when people are in severe pain, they don’t go looking for heroin. They go to doctors for help because they trust the professionals.
That trust was betrayed.
When members of the FDA, pharmaceutical executives, and medical professionals abandoned ethics—or never had them—the opioid crisis was born. Prescriptions replaced judgment. Profit replaced care. Doctors became legal drug dealers.
The damage is undeniable.
This crisis proves one thing clearly and consistently, you should not accept medical advice without question. Your health is too important and research matters because it allows you to ask good questions. Second opinions matter and time matters.
Do not rush decisions because asking questions and taking time makes for better decisions. Trust, but verify.
Because when it comes to pain, the cost of blind trust can mean your life.
